A Certified Nurses Assistant (CNA) is the term used for a person who assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and provides basic nursing procedures. CNAs work under the supervision of Registered Nurses or LPNs. A CNA provides bedside care by assisting with ADLs and is trained in a variety of skills, including feeding, dressing, bed making, and many more. A CNA may work in a variety of health care facilities like hospitals, extended care facilities, home care, and clinics.




CNA Training Requirements To Obtain A Nursing Assistant Certification

A nurses aid does not require any training, but to become a certified nurses assistant, health agencies require that staff pass a competency test. CNA certification requires at least 75 hours of training in basic health care, health law, and medical ethics, depending on your state requirements. CNAs must also pass a state test to become certified.

Graduates of CNA training program are eligible for certification after they pass the state administered exam.
