Become A Nurse Anesthesiologist
A Nurse Anesthetist is a registered nurse who is trained and educated
to administer anesthesia. The title Certified Registered Nurse
Anesthetist (CRNA) refers to the qualifications and abilities. Nurse
Anesthetists are RNs who have experience in acute or critical care that
choose continuing education to further their career and their ability to
help patients. CRNAs take care of patients anesthesia before, during, or
after surgery, or the delivery of a baby. CRNAs may practice in a great
number of settings including military, public, and private sector. They
may work in hospitals, offices, or independently. NAs may work with
anesthesiologists, dentists, podiatrists, surgeons, among others.
Training Requirements To Obtain A Nurse Anesthesiologist Degree
RNs may enroll for training in anesthesia only after receiving a
bachelors in nursing and gaining several years experience in the field.
Only after this time may a nurse begin at an accredited CRNA program and
begin training. Training includes lessons on theory, didactic education,
and clinical practice. Nurse Anesthetist must pass the national
certification examination, and are then certified by the Council on
Certification of Nurse Anesthetists (CCNA). Nurse Anesthestists also have
continuing education requirements, and must take a recertification
program every two years after certification.

Nurse Anesthesiologist Schools and Certification Degree Programs
Upon completion of the two to three year training program for nurse
anesthetist they must pass the national certification examination and
then be certified by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists
(CCNA). A typical masters program in the Science of Anesthesiology may
include 800 hours of didactic instruction at the masters level, 3500
hours of clinical instruction in the theory and science of
anesthesiology. Training requirements allow students to acquire
specialized knowledge and skills in anesthesia, as well as competence
and judgment necessary to perform a variety of duties to a variety of
clients. Typical amount of time to complete a masters program is about
24 to 36 months.
CRNA graduates are eligible for certification after receiving their
diploma. All graduates must pass a national certification examination
and will become certified by the Council on Certification of Nurse

Nurse Anesthesiologist Prerequisites
Prerequisites may vary a little from institution to institution,
however, the entrant must be have completed a four year program at a
registered nursing school and have passed state examinations and
certifications. At this point, most Post RN schools require at least two
years nursing experience in critical or acute care environment. Many
schools offer training that involves self- study or night classes so
nurses may continue to work while receiving their training. Use the
